Life in the Lions' Den / November 2010 Issue, Glimpse
Pray as if your life depends on it!
Daniel prayed. As a young man facing death he prayed with his three friends and God revealed the king’s dream to him.
On his way to becoming prime minister, he persisted in prayer, was thrown into a den of lions, watched God stop the mouths of the beasts, and saw God melt the heart of the king.
When he was eighty, while reading the prophet Jeremiah, he realized that God had promised to soon free his people after seventy years of slavery. So he prayed and began his prayer by confessing: “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong!”
What if we all prayed with that same fervor and humility? Maybe we would not only find out that our lives DO depend on prayer... but that so does our nation.
